TAYLOR'S UNIVERSITY
SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE, BUILDINGS AND DESIGN
BACHELOR OF SCIENCE (HONS) IN ARCHITECTURE
SPACE OUT [THE CUBE] was the first project being assigned to students in the Building Materials module. This project was intended for the students to understand the relation between the types of materials used and the space in a cube. This project was given as an individual work. In this project, we were asked to build two cubes made out of two different materials respectively. The paper cube and the wooden cube. We were to design in the space within the cube, to create an outline of a cube with these two materials, paper and wood.

FROM THIS PROJECT, I HAD LEARNT HOW INTRINSIC FORMS, LIMITATIONS AND BOUNDARIES OF A MATERIAL FACTOR IN A DESIGN PROCESS. AND ALSO KNOW MORE ABOUT MATERIALS LIKE DIFFERENCE MATERIALS SUITABLE FOR CERTAIN CONSTRUCTION. I HAD ALSO LEARNT HOW MATERIALS CONNECT AND THE STRUCTURE TO MAKE A 'CUBE' MORE STABLE AND RATIONAL. IT'S A GOOD START FOR THIS BUILDING MATERIALS COURSE.
